Gideon Lasco the Pinoy Mountaineer invented the difficulty rating so as to easily classify mountains as to their difficulty. It is rated from 1 being the easiest to 9 being the hardest or toughest. Back then, when I was a beginner, I subscribed to that I knew what will be my preparation. However, as I getting older in mountaineering, I disregard all of that, and I prepare any mountains whether it be minor, or major as equally the same.
