Why do We Hike?

Why do we hike? Why do I have to do this? Why do I need to climb this so steep a hill, only to find out that the view is obstructed by fog. Why do we need to carry a heavy backpack, on a rainy, slippery trail and sleep on wet ground with insects, or worse, leeches.

These questions hounded hikers for years. Bloggers started to write it. Kara David even made a documentary because of it.

People have a myriad reasons for hiking a mountain.

Some do it for physical fitness; others claim it as therapy for their mental health. There are no wrong answers to those questions. After all, those questions are irrelevant when one steps on the trail. Only you, and the surroundings matter.
